New Features and Improvements in NoTouch OS 2.40.2449

NoTouch Os has made the Raspberry Pi platform enterprise class by supporting Dual View Display

Love software that is perpetually breaking ground and pushing out innovations in each new release? Maybe that’s why you love NoTouch Desktop. Our most recent release, NoTouch OS 2.40.2449, delivers on our promise to continually improve and disrupt the Thin Client space.

NoTouch Desktop has made the Raspberry Pi platform enterprise class. All the known and loved features –its central administration, rollout strategy, support, and role-based management with per-value inheritance – together with a robust and secure operating system that provides the equal look and feel for both x86 PCs and the cost-effective Raspberry Pi, marks a game changer for the Thin Client industry.

With the latest Citrix Receiver 13.8, full Imprivata Single-Sign-On support (now including Fast User Switching, also known simply as “FUS”), and our Linux kernel version 4.13, lets you run NoTouch on the newest hardware available.

Things are moving so fast at Stratodesk, it’s no wonder we are the only vendor worldwide to deliver that kind of integrated enterprise solution.

Dual Monitor Display for the Raspberry Pi

Approximately 70% of business desktops require two monitors. Customers don’t need to fall back on expensive Thin Clients or PCs to make that a possibility. Thanks to the continuous innovation from Citrix and Stratodesk, they can now use two monitors with the Raspberry Pi.

In addition to the already supported, USB-based DisplayLink adapter, a new class of Secondary Display Adapter has emerged. Available from our partners NComputing and ViewSonic, this new technology makes for super-fast video display thanks to direct rerouting of Citrix ICA/HDX data.

Linux kernel version 4.13

Aside from the Raspberry Pi, NoTouch Desktop is the #1 best-selling PC repurposing solution known to run on the widest variety of hardware. To achieve this we constantly improve the kernel and driver stack. Our new “k413” images, referring to the recent Linux kernel 4.13, are the most advanced Linux-based software Thin Client out there. This new Kernel version allows you to run NoTouch OS on any hardware, even the most up-to-date, cutting-edge hardware on the market.

Citrix RTME 2.4.0 – Skype for Business optimization

Citrix customers should also be excited for the Citrix RealTime Media Engine (RTME) 2.4.0 update on all architectures  –an exciting update for PCs, and groundbreaking for the Raspberry Pi. It represents the first production release of RTME on this platform.

RTME dramatically enhances the user experience of Skype For Business in a VDI environment, providing high-quality, real-time video and audio data transmission without delay or disruptions.

New and Improved Firefox and Chromium

NoTouch OS supports and contains both Firefox and Chromium browsers. Both can be fully configured using our central management software and both are on par in terms of their features and configurability – you can use whichever one you want! Both these browsers can be used for regular web browsing, restricted Intranet browsing, and most importantly to access the Citrix StoreFront and VMware Horizon View web portals.

FUS enabled on PC and Pi

The addition of Fast User Switching (FUS) marks another milestone in our support and commitment to our partnership with Imprivata, as well as to the healthcare market as a whole. NoTouch Desktop supports Imprivata-based authentication via “badge tap”, smartcard, and fingerprint with workflows specifically designed for healthcare enterprises.

Another day in paradise at Stratodesk –and don’t we have a lot going on! From improvements to existing features to groundbreaking innovations for the Raspberry Pi Thin Client, you’ll want to keep up to date with all of our new releases. Make sure to follow our blog for future releases and more content on how Stratodesk is making VDI a better place for enterprises around the world.
