Stratodesk’s Unique Take on ‘RERO’ Development Strategy Is a Key Product Differentiator in EUC

Stratodesk’s Unique Take on RERO Development Strategy Is a Key Product Differentiator in EUC

During our long history, Stratodesk has been an EUC endpoint OS innovator, thanks in part to our consistent delivery of new releases following the release early, release often, or “RERO”, development methodology. Although quite uncommon in the early days of software development, today RERO is deployed across many commercial products, making it one of the most commonly deployed software release strategies in the world.

The reasons to use RERO are many, and include:

Increased Agility: software companies who use RERO are often on the cutting edge of innovation. This is simply because by releasing more frequently, companies are able to respond to customers’ challenges and even anticipate issues as they arise.

Incremental improvements: by regularly making software releases available, not only are users, testers and developers able to work more collaboratively to find solutions, in the case of EUC OS software, end users are also able to deploy new features and improvements incrementally throughout their fleet of endpoints. This reduces the amount of testing required for new releases and decreases the potential risk from any specific rollout.

Stratodesk RERO Strategy Is Focused on Key Customer Outcomes

While many commercial products and other leaders in the EUC/VDI space leverage RERO, we also have our own unique methodology aimed at making the lives of our customers easier. These include an organic approach to making updates that bypass the need to retrain admins and end users, an ever consistent update mechanism, a SaaS like experience, all while giving the customer complete control over their entire VDI/DaaS deployment.

Changes Are Made Organically

One of our core values is to enable user centric innovation to our customers. We aim to make our software the most intuitive to use. For this reason, no sudden or large changes that would require retooling of our admins or end users are introduced into our software. Instead, changes, improvements and new features are organically introduced into our software, easing usability.

Update Mechanisms Never Change

Although we release early and often, we never change the method through which system administrators are able to make updates to Stratodesk NoTouch. This effectively reduces any hassle for our customers who can make any update to our software they need without having to “reinvent the wheel”.

We Avoid Very Disruptive Changes that Cut People off from a Downgrade Path

Another way we enable our users to maintain complete control over their deployment is by avoiding changes that would prevent administrators to “roll back” to an earlier image. With Stratodesk NoTouch, admins can very easily choose an earlier image and push that out to end users.

RERO Enables a SaaS-Like Experience in Stratodesk NoTouch OS

Ultimately, by managing our release schedule in this way, Stratodesk NoTouch is able to deliver a SaaS-like experience. After all, SaaS is not restricted solely to web based applications. Downloadable software are also examples of SaaS – by updating often, customers are able to keep their endpoints up to date the same as they would expect from other SaaS products they are used to using.

Update Because You Want to, Not Because You Need To

Lastly, in line with Stratodesk’s mission to give our customers complete control over their entire deployment while retaining freedom of choice, customers get to choose whether or not they update their software.

Of course, when certain security issues arise that target the broader world of EUC, we recommend that our customers update to the latest version of Stratodesk NoTouch OS. Likewise, customers will often opt for our latest updates in order to take advantage of innovative new features from us and our third party integrations.

In situations where being conservative is of the essence, enterprises will also choose Stratodesk’s LTS product. This limits the number of times they are needed to make updates, while ensuring all security issues are concerned and also removing the need for regression tests.

Stratodesk’s Update Strategy Delivers on Our Core Values

Through our groundbreaking update strategy, Stratodesk has been able to consistently deliver on the core principles of our mission to enable constant, unceasing innovation, unparalleled user experience, hardened endpoint security, and complete choice for our customers. It’s just another reason why Stratodesk NoTouch software is the most innovative endpoint OS in all of EUC.
