As Stratodesk Heads to HIMSS 2022, Here’s What’s Changed for Healthcare IT

As Stratodesk Heads to HIMSS 2022, Here's What's Changed for Healthcare IT

The pandemic, the ensuing supply shortage, and an increasingly mobile healthcare workforce are all challenges that we will be addressing at HIMSS 2022.

While we are excited to be once again at an in person HIMSS event, the fact that we are once again having in person events causes us to remember what exactly it was that kept us at virtual events for so long. Due to the pandemic, the challenges facing healthcare IT have forever changed.

Even though healthcare IT has always had to deal with workers on the move throughout the physical perimeter of the hospital, today they must deal with the adoptability and security issues inherent to hybrid work and telehealth and new budgetary concerns that supply chain issues have caused.

Adoptability is a Premium in a Hybrid Healthcare Deployment

When the pandemic hit full swing, and IT staff braced themselves to send large portions of their workforce home, the ability to easily roll out endpoints securely to end users became of immediate importance. For healthcare IT using Stratodesk NoTouch, they were able to quickly roll Stratodesk NoTouch onto new devices. When workers needed to be sent home, IT simply converted endpoints in a matter of minutes. In fact, the typical process was reduced for many from four hours to just four minutes per new device.

The speed with which IT can convert endpoints is not limited to devices they send home with workers. IT can also swiftly convert endpoints used within the hospital for things like surgery and other healthcare critical situations. The ability to reduce the time it takes to convert new devices can have an incredible impact – literally saving patient lives.

Going Beyond the Hospital – Enabling Remote Clinics

In addition to securing devices in the hospital and at home, healthcare IT was also faced with the unique task of enabling remote COVID-19 testing clinics. This meant they needed the ability to leverage whatever devices they had available – laptops, Intel Nucs, and the like.

A combination of Stratodesk PC Conversion and Stratodesk Cloud Xtension were key to IT leaders as they enabled secure remote access to critical apps and data at these sites.

PC Conversion Critical For Healthcare IT Facing the Chip Supply Shortage

Budget restraints remain as real for healthcare today as before the pandemic. Today, however, the outlook in purchasing new devices is grimmer than it was before. The worldwide semiconductor chip shortage has driven up the price of new devices as well as aided in their scarcity.

To combat this rising cost, healthcare has turned to PC Conversion. In a VDI/DaaS deployment, endpoints can be converted with intelligent operating systems like Stratodesk NoTouch OS and then be used with the same user experience and productivity as brand new devices.

Large healthcare organizations report getting as much as a $400 savings per endpoint device thanks to Stratodesk NoTouch OS.
